The 4 O'Clock Drop: Kanye West - Ghost Town
Kanye West dropped his eight solo album titled 'Ye' over the weekend and we can't get enough. We particularly love the gripping track 'Ghost Town', which NME writer Douglas Greenwood describes perfectly below:
"Meanwhile ‘Ghost Town’, that aforementioned track that apparently left crowds at the record’s rural Wyoming launch stunned, loops in heavyweights like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Kid Cudi, but owes a great deal to its euphoric, rocky outro provided by another GOOD Music artist, 070 Shake. The fresh-faced New Jersey rapper and vocalist, who was pretty much unknown the day before yesterday, is likely being bombarded with requests for collaborations as we speak. Her verse is a moment of real clarity on a record that’s immediately impactful, if slightly underwhelming coming from a man known for creating vast masterpieces in the past."

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Black Rock Band - Bininj Kunborrk
Black Rock Band's Bininj Kunborrk is a lovely one. The 4 O'Clock Drop: Hatchie - Sugar and Spice
Hatchie has just released her debut EP 'Sugar and Spice', and we are HUGE fans.
Pilbeam on her Title track: "I wanted to write a really happy love song [because] I wrote all these sad songs and it was getting a bit too deep and dark for me. I recorded it in two sessions: in Brisbane first but I wasn't really sure where I wanted to take it so sat on it for about a year, then after 'Try' came out i went and finished it in Melbourne."

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Childish Gambino - This Is America
Childish Gambino has premiered one of the first singles from his upcoming album on SNL. The track, titled 'This Is America' explores police brutality and gun violence within the US, as Gambino sings: "This is America / Don't catch you slippin' up / Look how I'm livin' now / Police be trippin' now / Yeah, this is America / Guns in my area (word, my area) / I got the strap / I gotta carry 'em."

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Milan Ring - 2063
We're loving this new one from Milan Ring.
Milan discusses the meaning of the track: “2063” is essentially a love song about focusing on the important things and not getting caught up in the negative chatter, but it also plays upon the telepathic connection I believe we can have with our loved ones. Like when you think of someone right before they call.”

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Amen Dunes - Believe
This is the first I've heard from Amen Dunes, but I'm a fan! The story behind "Believe" is sobering, read Pitchfork's Marc Hogan's review below if you're interested.
"When Damon McMahon began recording his next album as Amen Dunes, Freedom, his mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The previous two singles, "Miki Dora" and "Blue Rose", drew inspiration from a problematic surfer-outlaw and McMahon’s own father, respectively. “Believe,” according to a press release, reckons with his mother’s impending mortality. The results—a master class in slow-building, raspily sung astral-folk—are worthy of their weighty subject, as spiritually cleansing as they are emotionally devastating."

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Not In Love We're Just High
New stuff from these guys is always good news!
Pitchfork's Sasha Geffen take on the song:
"It presents his voice as an electronic instrument in its own right, a texturing tool only barely recognizable as human. His rickety voice has an almost cyborg quality to it, and as he sings over wobbly synths, it can be hard to tell where he ends and the circuitry begins."

The 4 O'Clock Drop: Spike Vincent - Faded
Newtown's Spike Vincent gives us the lovely Faded.
Hhhappy's Liz Campbell describes the track: "Faded not only rides the waves of love and loss, but contains perhaps the most pure and perfect line of the record; “I’m wearing your grandmother’s ring. Yeah, I’m drinking another VB”."
Have a listen for yourself.
