K Á R Y Y N - ALEPPO
ALEPPO is a haunting piece of music from Syrian-born producer K Á R Y Y N. Now based in LA, K Á R Y Y N's brand of ambient and glitchy electronic music is the vessel through which she reflects back on her time growing up in Aleppo.
"I needed to look at my childhood, see my little self during the years that many wounds had formed and piece it back together," she tells us. "And instead of finding more pain, what I found was that there was actually a lot of joy and even more love than I had remembered."
The music video for ALEPPO is incredibly moving, a simple compilation of home footage from when K Á R Y Y N was in her teens in Syria. According to an article in FACT Magazine, K Á R Y Y N remembers the day she heard her former school had been bombed to rubble.
