The first official Grow Yourself Up release is out today.
Introducing Wade Jackson's Crown & Cathedral.
An album written and recorded in the winter of 2016 in his hometown of Wallacia (NSW) at the foothills of Sydney's Blue Mountains, Jackson utilised his late Grandmother's granny flat as the main creative space ‘comfortable and familiar beyond anything else’. A multi-instrumentalist, Jackson roped in friend and local music whiz Liam Judson (Belles Will Ring, Cloud Control) to mix the whole album. .
The new album is a complete change of scene from his previous 2 releases, the debut Goodbye Rain, Hello Sunshine and 2015's Whiskey Alpha Delta Echo by writing all tracks at the piano and limiting the guitar work to make way for liquified synths with driving rhythms and ethereal vocal structures and harmonies. Topics range from a fear of heights and love to an confused understanding of mega stardom and it's trappings from visits to L.A as a ghost writer. Jackson prefers to remain within the shadows of his music and go about his business quietly in the surrounds of sleepy Wallacia. Crown & Cathedral is out today on Grow Yourself Up.
"No doubt Mr. Jackson has brought it home, yet again." Popdose (NYC)
Further to the release today, a great new video for new single 'Exist' is out today too. For those who love space travel, this is for you.
